About
Hi, I am Sanja, and this is my space for saving and organizing travel memories and for sharing stories, experiences, and personal opinions of the beautiful places I have the luck of visiting. Unless provided an original link or stated otherwise, all the displayed images are my own.
I travel with my family, and for us, travelling is learning, getting a new perspective on the world, and acquiring empathy for everything different. We sponsor our own trips and prefer active, affordable, and sustainable holidays. I don't travel to publish, because places are not a mere backdrop and opportunity for writing. They are living, complex organisms with their own values, stories, identities, and dignity. I write to remember, to share with the ones I love, to understand histories, communities, fragilities, and subjectivities of travel destinations.
Travel is transformative, and my travel stories are often a way to examine my own life while being in dialogue with a place. They are always textured, concerned with art, ambience, mentality, about what happened before, and not only what is visible in plain sight. I pursue the less obvious and try to hold space for the ambiguity, ambivalence, and uncertainty.
My dream is to encourage at least someone to be an attentive and observant traveller, to appreciate travel, to dare to travel themselves, to not wait for the kids to grow up to resume travelling, or to have enough money. I also hope to offer a brief daydream of the wonderful places on Earth. Thank you for stopping by, for giving me the gift of your time and your attention, and for participating in the adventure of seeing the world through my personal aesthetics. It is not taken for granted.
